Long Season Farm is a small farm focused on providing seasonal vegetables year round. We sell our produce in the summer at the Saugerties and Kingston farmers markets, and in the winter at the Kingston Indoor Market and through our Winter CSA. By growing a large variety of storage crops, cold hardy greens, and greenhouse grown shoots, we are able to offer vegetables from October through March.
Our farm philosophy is small and slow. Our ten-acre property includes about four acres of sandy soil, 6 acres of woods, a greenhouse, and two high tunnels. We are currently working about 1.25 acres of land with an eye towards conscientiously bringing the whole property into production.
By using reduced tillage methods, applying organic matter, and strategic use of cover crops, our aim is to continue to improve our soil structure and health as we increase it’s productivity.
ABOUT THE FARMERS
We have been farming in the Hudson Valley since 2008. We owned, founded and managed Second Wind CSA, a thriving 50-member CSA program located at the Four Winds Farm. After three years, we passed Second Wind on to another couple and went in search of a place to establish more permanent roots. In March of 2013 we closed on a property in Kerhonkson, which is now Long Season Farm. As of June 2017, we are both full-time at Long Season Farm!
